Amazing team at Lone Peak! The data generated from the Aerobic Threshold and strength/mobility tests really helped me dial in my training plan for the year. Those stats along with the advice from the team is invaluable when you're looking to maximize your performance as well as your time. Tom Cuddy's Exercise Physiology practice at Lone Peak is unique, and a great resource for outdoor athletes in Montana. He has all the technological gadgetry to go with his in-depth technical knowledge of how the body functions while exercising at low and high levels of intensity! He performed a VO2Max test of me on my mountain bike using his trainer in the Bozeman Performance Clinic, and then provided a complete summary on the spot, along with a detailed report I can refer back to later. I gained new insight about how my body functions, and how to optimize my training.

Training for races in the past had always been based off a generic training program I would find online. While those training programs were certainly helpful and got me through in the past, I was always fighting nagging/chronic pain of one form or another. I am currently working with Emily Stearns as my trainer. We meet 3 times a week for an hour. When she arrived at Lone Peak two years ago I was in the process of preparing my body for a total knee replacement. Emily worked directly with Allie Poalino, the physical therapist , to insure I was doing the proper exercises and building strength in my legs. Then Allie and Emily
worked together to rehab my knee. They have both been incredibly patient,
professional, and encouraging. Might I add SUCCESSFUL. It took time but with this team I am very happy with the result.
Strength and balance. Emily is my girl. Incredibly conscientious, always learning, finding the right balance between better results, and not asking too much. Her online work is the best. It is a hard system to perfect but she does it. At this time in our Covid-19 world she has developed a good online workout wherever the client might be and keep everyone safe. Lone Peak Performance has given her the technical tools and encouragement to keep online part of what they offer.
I have worked with a succession of trainers. Currently, I am working with Bryan. He plans workouts to conform to the things I most like to do—skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. I have noticed improvements in my stamina on the hill. Also, when we look at the metrics Byran has recorded my strength has greatly improved. Since working with Bryan my massage therapist has noticed that my musculature is symmetrical and my shoulder muscles have increased in size. These are both good things!
And then there is Jahnel, the sunny, cheerful face that greets you when you come in and bids you goodbye when you leave. Jahnel is the glue that holds this place together. As Les was once advised, “Ask Jahnel. She knows everything.”
